What is Loaded Web?

Thanks to Janet Barclay’s Tweet this morning, I’ve discovered an interesting new tool called Loaded Web.

The folks at Loaded Web are “trying to be the first purely geo-based blog directory. This means we want to organize blogs primarily by geography – where the blogger is from.” They are doing the same for Twitter.

Why should we be using them? According to their about page, Loaded Web:

We manually review all blog submissions. Other blog directories rely on users to submit reports, which means a ton of spam gets through. We are 100% spam-free.
We don’t nofollow all links like all other blog directories do. We are happy to openly link to your blog.
We don’t copy all your blog posts onto our site, hoping to get search engine traffic. We only publish a small blurb. Other aggregators happily index and re-publish your content on their site.
We categorize by geography. We truly believe the internet’s greatest power is connecting us to our neighbors. Find blogs by bloggers living near you.
We don’t force you to pick pre-determined categories. You know your blog best – use tags and tell us what you know your blog is about.

I’ve just signed up with their service. I don’t know what the results are going to be when we look at traffic, but I thought it was worth a try. Plus it is interesting to be able to search for local businesses who are blogging or Tweeting.
