Want to Send Links in Twitter? Here’s How

Spread the love

One of the things I love most about Twitter is the cool (and very useful) technical tools I discover from other people. I’d say at least once a week someone sends a link to a tool that I find useful. And I wouldn’t have discovered it without Twitter.

But it’s not just technology. Often people will post links to blog posts or videos that are particularly insightful or provocative. I’ve discovered a number of new blogs that way and learned a lot thanks to my Twitter tribe.

I’ve wanted to share my finds along the way but often the URLs were too long to add to a Tweet. I could never figure out how people sent URLs in their Tweets … until now. The other day John Jantsch over at Duct Tape Marketing Tweeted a link to something called Fleck.

Fleck is a very simple tool that you add to your web browser’s toolbar (there’s a video to show you how). This Bookmarklet as they call it sits on your toolbar. When you visit a site you think your Twitter tribe would enjoy, you just click the Fleck button on your browser and it creates a Tweet complete with link. You merely need to add some introductory text and hit send.

There are two versions of Fleck: regular Fleck and Fleck Lite. The site is light on directions but as near as I can tell Fleck Lite is just for sending Tweets with links. The regular version is trying to become a social media site in its own right. I don’t know if the social media part is ever going to become a force on the internet, however I did create a Baby Boomer Entrepreneur group on Fleck if anyone is interested.

So, if you’ve ever wanted to send a link in your Tweets but didn’t know how, go to Fleck and sign up. Then start Flecking!

Shameless plug: If you decide to give Fleck a try, why not Fleck your favorite Baby Boomer Entrepreneur post to your Twitter tribe. It would make my day!
