Why Your Blog Should Be The Foundation for Your Online Marketing Strategy

Posted on October 18, 2018
by Andrea J. Stenberg

I don’t care if you’re a coach, consultant, massage therapist or a toy store owner you need a blog as part of your online marketing strategy.

First of all your blog is the one piece of real estate on the web that you own.

You don’t own Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram or any of the other social platforms. You have to play by their rules.

Not only that, you run the risk of getting booted off the platform, sometimes very arbitrarily, and losing all the work you’ve done.

And if you succeed in driving traffic to your profile you’re helping build someone else’s Google ranking.

Why Have a Blog and Not a Static Website?

The short answer is Google. You want your business to show up on a Google search, preferably in the top 3 listings. Read More→

Create Amazing Images for Your Social Media Posting

Posted on March 20, 2018
by Andrea J. Stenberg

When marketing online you need to create amazing images to go along with your posts – eye catching, thumb-stopping visuals to make people want to stop, look and share. You can’t just type a message and hit share any more.

Why Use Images?

Eye-tracking studies show internet readers pay more attention to information-carrying images than they do reading text on the page. (Source)

Tweets with images receive 150% more retweets than tweets without images. (Source)

BuzzSumo found that online articles with an image once every 75-100 words received double the social media shares as articles with fewer images. (Source)

Facebook posts with images see 2.3X more engagement than those without images. (Source)

Start with Great Photos

One of the easiest ways is to buy “stock” photos. There are a number of sites that sell photos – either individually, in a bundle or by subscription.

The pros – these are beautiful, professional photos. You can search the sites using keywords to find the appropriate subjects. And you know you have the legal right to use them on your website and social media.

The cons – Some of these sites are pricey. If you’re sharing a lot of content on your website or on social the price can add up fast. Additionally, stock photos seem cold. They look too polished and don’t create a connection between the viewer and your business. Read More→

What to Write About On Your Business Blog

Posted on August 27, 2015

When I talk to clients about blogging the most common question I get is “what would I write about?” It’s actually not as hard as you might think. Once you get started, I’ll bet you can easily come up with dozens of ideas.

To decide what topics to write about first you need to remember the purpose of your blog. If you are blogging for your business your goals are a) to improve your search engine ranking b) to increase traffic to your website c) to establish yourself as an expert in your field d) to generate new leads and/or sales.

Common Questions

What are questions you frequently get from potential customers? If you answer each of those questions in a blog post you will be answering people’s objections before they ever speak with you. These can be common questions that everyone asks, or unusual questions that you only get once in a while.

4 Reasons You Need a Business Blog

As a small business owner you are busy. When you engage in any type of marketing activity you want to know that you’re going to get results. And the end result needs to be more sales.

So why should you be blogging?

Before I answer that I should probably answer a more basic question, what is a blog? Blog is short for web log. In the early days blogs were really just online diaries for angst ridden teenagers.

Things have changed.

Today a blog is a specialized website that is updated frequently, usually with articles although it can also be photos, video or audio.

Who reads blogs? Just about everyone who has ever looked up information on the Internet. Odds are if you’ve looked up an online review before purchasing a new smart phone or computer, the article you read was actually a blog post.

More Traffic to Your Website

That leads into the first reason why having a blog for your business is so important. Because in addition to people reading blogs, Google and other search engines read them too.

A blog post that includes a well-written title containing important keywords to your business and an accompanying article can be found by Google which in turn means it can be found by somebody looking for an answer to a question or a solution to a problem.

When you write a blog post, in reality it is Read More→

Seven Things To Do Immediately After Publishing A Blog Post

Having a business blog is a great marketing tool. It gives prospects a chance to check you out before having to take any further action. It’s great for search engine optimization – if you create good blog post titles you’re more likely to show up in search.

However, even if you create the best blog posts in the world they don’t do you any good if no one actually reads them. Yes your blog posts are marketing tools, but you still have to put some effort into promoting your blog posts if you want to reach a wider audience.

Here are seven things you should do immediately after hitting publish on your next blog post.

1. Share on Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Plus And Twitter

The first thing you should do is share a blog post across all your social networks. If you’re using a tool like JetPack some of the process can be automated. But you need to make sure you have great images attached to your blog post and that they’re optimized for each social network. Read More→
